ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sharyn began painting in 1984 and earned her Certified Decorative Artist (Society of Decorative Painters) designation in 1989, Certified Craft Designer (Society of Craft Designers) in 1997 and in 1999 became a Certified Professional Demonstrator (Craft and Hobby Association). She has taught sideloading and realistic florals in acrylics at painting Conventions, both regional and SDP, and International seminars since 1991. Sharyn has authored 16 decorative painting books and contributed to 5 multi-author books. Sharyn has made one video on her structured Sideloading techniques.

Sharyn and her husband Gary live on 3 1/3rd acres of desert just outside of Tucson, Arizona with one spoiled Rottweiler, Wild Bill. The quiet desert with an abundance of birds, animals, cactus and flowers is an unending source of inspiration. And her camera is always ready.

Sharyn is a member of the Society of Decorative Painters (SDP) and her local chapter, Tucson Decorative Painters Guild, the Society of Craft Designers, and the Colored Pencil Society of America. She is a member of the editorial boards of both Paint Works and Quick and Easy Painting.

Although, Sharyn specializes in acrylic sideloading, she also teaches pen and ink and graphite pencil. Her principle design subjects are Southwestern (6 books), Florals (8 books) and Seashells (2 books). Her seminar schedule is limited and she now travel teaches only 6 times each year. Sharyn is enjoying semi-retirement with more time for photography, drawing and driving her little, Silver Z-4 roadster!
